There are a lot of situations in post where an automatic solution is not the best choice to solve problems. But even he admitted that it's still possible to equal those results manually.

Patrick Inhofer of Mixing Light did several tutorials on Color Match where he showed that basically, you have to do a little bit of manual 'prep' work prior to using Color Match, and that it can work under many conditions. These are the kinds of situations where an automatic solution is not going to help.
